Over time, dust may collect on the outside of your AXIS Gear and Power Module. To prevent the device from working improperly or as efficiently, Gear can be cleaned in a few simple steps.

1. Uninstall

To start, remove Gear from the Mounting Bracket and the Power Module from the window like so. If you need help on uninstalling Gear, click here for detailed instructions.

2. Clean

Wipe the outside of each device with a clean, slightly damp cloth. Do not use any soaps, detergents or solvents to clean the devices. This includes glass cleaner, rubbing alcohol or any kind of hairspray or aerosol. Also, make sure to not get water inside the devices or paint on them.

3. Dry

Wipe the devices dry with a soft microfiber cloth. Make sure to pay special attention to the solar panel during this process to ensure there is no moisture on the surface.
